Glassfish naturally turn away from perceived danger, grouping together and moving like a single entity. They break away, starbursting in all directions to confuse predators moments before a strike. They quickly regroup again, turning this way and that. When they are relaxed, they occasionally venture out from their protective reef or wreck lair, into the surrounding blue water. Dive after dive, I worked painstakingly at the same site to gain their trust. Waiting for that magical moment when they felt relaxed enough to turn and face my camera, content with an outsider in their midst. With this image, I was able to capture an expression of what it’s like being a member of the school.
