Sharks and Rays

Tiger sharks, apex predators and a keystone species in marine ecosystems. With distinct countershading of light and dark, their markings provide camouflage from either above or below, making it difficult for prey to detect their presence. These stunning sharks have the most varied diet of all the sharks in our oceans, helping to maintain the balance of nature in seagrass and coral habitats.

Worldwide, there are only 17 shark sanctuaries where finning and fishing are banned entirely. The Bahamas is one of the few countries to protect its shark population in this way. It’s a vital and forward-thinking step, where the possession, trade and sale of all shark products are prohibited.
