Underwater, the colours and patterns of invertebrate life are extraordinary. Some of these animals you only notice when you light up the reef with strobes or torchlight. Others are brilliantly bold with stunning hues, interesting textures and geometric shapes. Finding fresh ways to bring to life their intricate detail is something I love doing. This is a yellowline arrow crab hiding out inside a stunningly-coloured azure vase sponge.

Gear: Canon EOS 800D, Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM lens, Sea & Sea RDX750D housing with a DX Macro Port 52, twin INON s2000 strobes.

"Two beautiful wide-angle shots and a well-done macro shot. I really loved the image of the shark silhouette with the sunburst – it would have been even better if the tail wasn’t cut off at the bottom. The two spotted dolphins are also very nice but I would have liked to see the whole bodies of the dolphins. In the macro image, I was impressed with the sharp focus of the eyes and enjoyed the colors and composition."
