Darkening Skies - Winner, BSoUP April '22

Winner, British Society of Underwater Photographers (BSoUP) - Focus on Available Light competition. April 2022

"A very worthy winner. One of my favorites right from the get go. In contrast to the runner up the composition is quite simple but very effective and works very well in this image. The subject is positioned perfectly in front of the sun. Excellent exposure for light – not allowing it to flare too much or white out the picture. The swish of the tail creates movement in the image as does the surface ripples which are visible. Focus is spot on allowing the observant to notice the edging on the pectoral fins. Good colour – with all these factors combining to create a most pleasing shot – well done!"
